| Comment | Acts as a docking site for several chromatin remodeling enzymes and also by recruiting corepressors (HDACs) or coactivators (HATs) directly to promoters and enhancers. Forms chromatin loops. SATB1 also targets ACF1 and ISWI, subunits of CHRAC and ACF nucleosome mobilizing complexes. SAFB1 is a component of the DNA damage response and shows that SAFB1 cooperates with histone acetylation to allow for efficient γH2AX spreading. |
