Comment | It has been suggested that RAG1 targets H3.3, the H3 variant known to be associated with recombining loci, and thus most likely to be encountered by RAG1 during V(D)J recombination. This reaction is absolutely dependent on an intact RAG1 RING domain, and requires regions of the far N-terminus of RAG1 where the H3.3 binding sight is likely to reside and regions within the H3 amino-terminal tail. Several H3.3 lysines are subject to ubiquitylation. |
